The Maine Economic Development Venture Capital Revolving Investment Program (VRIP) provides investment capital to eligible venture capital funds in order to support Maine businesses with job creation and retention.

Applications for investments from the program fund are now open to qualified private, professionally managed venture capital funds.

Application Deadline: October 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM EST

Eligibility Criteria

 To be eligible for investments from the fund, a venture capital fund must:  

  • Be private, professionally managed, and located in the State of Maine
  • Be capable of providing venture capital to businesses in order to create and protect jobs
  • Provide evidence of past or potential management success and risk diversification
  • Have the following at the time of application:
    • A strategy for the creation and retention of jobs
    • A marketing and technical assistance plan
    • Available appropriate technical assistance to analyze, document and monitor its investments.
    • Available appropriate technical assistance to assist the businesses in which it invests.
  • Propose standards and goals and a process for monitoring compliance with proposed measurement and goals.
