College Access Counselor

FAME is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and compassionate individual to become part of the College Access and Financial Education Team as a College Access Counselor. The individual holding this position is responsible for participating in the development, delivery, and evaluation of FAME’s college access programs. FAME’s college access efforts are focused on college savings, aspirations, FAFSA completion, navigating the financial aid process, and financial wellness. This individual will develop and share information through presentations, videos, webinars, publications, emails, and texts to various audiences. Additionally, this team member will assist with project management and social media and communication efforts.

This position will be responsible for regional outreach including travel throughout Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Piscataquis, Somerset, and Waldo counties.

This position is a full-time permanent role with benefits.

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum education, experience, and work requirements:

  • Four (4) year degree in business, social sciences, education, marketing, or related field is required (or an appropriate combination of education and work experience).
  • Minimum of three (3) years related work experience required. Understanding of higher education programs required.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal relations, and oral and written communication is required.
  • Must have excellent presentation skills with the ability to clearly convey complex content to audiences of varying sizes and levels of previous knowledge.
  • Strong computer and problem-solving skills are required. Superior organizational skills, time management, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Must possess a positive, achievement-oriented attitude to build strong relationships with all clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Motivated, self-starter with proven time management and team building skills.

College Savings Counselor

FAME is seeking a knowledgeable, driven and compassionate individual to become part of the Education Team as a College Savings Counselor. The individual holding this project position is responsible for participating in the development, delivery and evaluation of FAME’s efforts to educate Maine people about the Maine Education Savings Program, aka NextGen 529 (“NextGen”), specifically, but not limited to, parents or guardians of children who are Alfond Grant eligible. Focus will be on education of Alfond Grants and Maine Matching Grants, developing and delivering programming that encourages an understanding of education savings, education aspirations, and financial education/return on investment for education after high school, with the goal of increasing NextGen account openings and contributions.

This position will be responsible for regional outreach including travel throughout Aroostook, Franklin, Hancock, Knox, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset, Waldo, and Washington counties.
