Accountant

FAME is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to become part of the finance team as an Accountant. The primary responsibilities of this position include Provides accounting and administrative support for the Operations of the Finance Department. Perform monthly preparing and posting general and standard journal entries. This role is responsible for accounts payable coding/posting, vendor payments, year-end 1099-Misc forms, and vendor profile management.  Ensures adherence to the Procurement Policy as well proper approvals for payments obtained.  Additional duties include Completes bi-weekly payroll. Works with outside service providers to track information, reconcile accounts, assure timely processing, and resolve issues. The Accountant will assist in the Authority’s annual audits.

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum education and work experience requirements:

  • Minimum two-year college degree in Business Administration or Accounting (or an appropriate combination of education and work experience).
  • Minimum requirement of three years related work experience (e.g., bookkeeping, account reconciliation, loan servicing, accounts payable, payroll, etc.).
  • Understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  Familiarity with FASB and GASB standards preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with spreadsheet and word processing software, preferably Microsoft Office programs. Experience with accounting software is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. 
  • Able to work in a professional business environment.

Human Resources Coordinator

FAME is seeking knowledgeable, motivated, and compassionate individual to become part of the Human Resources Team as a Human Resources Coordinator. The primary responsibilities of this position include: handling specific HR tasks, including onboarding of new temporary and permanent employees, benefits training and administration, and maintaining employee handbook and policy manuals. Coordinator will work collaboratively with HR Manager to advance recruitment policies and practices to attract diverse candidates for organization positions, deliver attentive, high quality customer service, and provides HR support to all employees.

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum education, experience and work requirements:

  • Associates degree in business or equivalent plus specialized training in human resources (or an appropriate combination of education and work experience).
  • Minimum of two (2) years related human resource experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable human resource laws, rules, regulations, and procedures including but not limited to non-discrimination and equal opportunity employment laws.
  • Effective, professional oral and written communication skills and the ability to listen, consult, advise, mediate, train and collaborate with others.

Education Programs Coordinator

FAME is seeking a knowledgeable, driven and compassionate individual to become part of the Education Team as a Education Programs Coordinator. The primary responsibilities of this position include: triaging customer inquiries to determine their higher education access needs; delivering information about financial aid processes, FAME’s higher education access programs, services, and financing opportunities.  This individual is also responsible for assisting in the assessment, evaluation and processing of FAME’s higher education access programs and financing opportunities such as the Maine Loan.

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum education, experience and work requirements:

  • Minimum two-year college degree in liberal arts, social sciences, education, business or related field (or an appropriate combination of education and work experience).
  • Minimum of two (2) years related work experience in financial aid, higher education access, and/or private education loan lending or servicing preferred.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal relations. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer, time management and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Superior organizational skills Attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment are required.
  • Must possess a positive, achievement-oriented attitude to build strong relationships with all students, families, partners, vendors and staff.
  • Motivated, self-starter with proven team building skills.
  • Experience working with students of all ages and their families desirable.
