Waterville Women’s Association Scholarship (First Year Application)

The Waterville Woman’s Association awards need-based scholarships to qualified female identifying or non-binary individuals who are residents of the Waterville, Oakland, Fairfield, and Winslow areas and who will attend an accredited non-profit postsecondary institution in Maine during the next academic year.

The applicant must meet the following requirements:
1. Must have been accepted by an accredited non-profit postsecondary institution within the State of Maine.
2. Must demonstrate financial need.
3. Must submit an application no later than May 15 at 5:00 PM and include all supporting documents. All correspondence will be kept confidential between the applicant and the Association.
4. Must be a full-time student for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Scholarship Amount: Varies
Application Process:

The application must include:

  1. A completed First-Time Applicant Scholarship Form. All information requested must be included within the application.
  2. A one-page personal statement signed by the applicant that includes plans for your education, goals for the future, personal accomplishments, and why you are applying for this scholarship. Please include any unique financial or personal circumstances.
  3. We no longer require the submission of your Student Aid Report (SAR) or Student Aid Index (SAI). If you have them, great! Otherwise, a screenshot of an email from StudentAid.gov with an estimated SAI will do, or simply skip this section.
  4. A letter of reference from someone who knows you well, such as a teacher, counselor, employer, coach, or community member (not a relative).
  5. You are no longer required to submit your financial aid award letter from your college. We’ll look up the cost of attendance if this information is missing.

Only complete applications will be considered. All applications must be received by 5:00 PM, May 15, 2024.

If you have any questions, please email Brittany Strout, WWA Scholarship Committee Chair.

  • Payment of scholarship money will be made directly to the recipient’s postsecondary college or university at the beginning of each academic semester.
  • Please note: Changes in enrollment to a different postsecondary institution from that stated on the application may void this scholarship.
