Eligibility: In July of 2009, Helmut Weber, husband of Inge Weber, established the Trust Agreement; the Inge C. B. Weber Trust with the Bar Harbor (Maine) Garden Club appointed as “Trustee.” Inge Weber was an endeared longtime member and former president of the Bar Harbor Garden Club (BHGC) which promotes community gardening and healthy, beautiful environments enhanced by gardens.
Scholarship Amount: $500 to $1,000

Applications will be accepted from any of the following groups:
- Mount Desert Island High School (MDIHS) seniors planning to enter an accredited college or university with an intended major in the allied plant sciences: horticulture, floriculture, forestry, botany, environmental sciences, or other related areas.
- MDIHS graduates planning a non-college route of study in plant sciences which may include such training as “Master Gardening Volunteer,” like seminars or courses of study. Candidates need not hold a college degree in pursuit of this pathway.
- College of the Atlantic (COA) students studying the allied plant sciences previously listed above. The candidate must have successfully completed one semester as a full-time COA student.
NOTE: In all above groups, Maine residents will be given preference.

How is this Awarded? It is the responsibility of the Bar Harbor Garden Club as “Trustee” to promote, advertise and recruit applicants for this scholarship. In turn, the Scholarship Chairperson will convene a selection committee from Club members to select the best applicant.
