Invest in ME Reads
This program was created by FAME in partnership with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Invest in ME Reads is a family financial education program that offers free books and resources to elementary students and their families, along with an educational website, InvestinMeReads, designed to engage families and teach kids about money and making choices that boost financial skills early in life. All Maine second, third, and fourth graders receive the following free books and resources to share at home. Families also receive information to encourage them to visit InvestinMeReads and learn about Maine’s college savings program.

Second Grade:
Those Shoes, a book that includes themes of saving, giving, and delayed gratification. Families also receive a Parent Guide from the CFPB as part of their Money as You Grow Bookshelf program, which includes conversation starters and suggested activities for putting the ideas and themes of the book into action.
Third Grade:
Money Monsters Learn to Save booklet and stickers. The booklet includes themes of saving, earning, and delayed gratification.
Fourth Grade:
Money Monsters Start Their Own Business, a book that introduces students to goal setting, budgeting, and the ups and downs of becoming an entrepreneur.
Fifth Grade Materials: Coming in the fall of 2023!
