Garden Club Federation of Maine Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements
College juniors and seniors or graduate students, who are legal residents of the state of Maine, may apply. College sophomores are eligible, as they will be entering their junior year the following fall. Students must major in some field of horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental concerns, ecology, land management, and/or any other garden-related fields.Application Process
Early application entries are accepted. Completed application must be received by February 1 of the award year.
Application Guidelines: GCFM personal letter by applicant (one page only), list of extracurricular activities, and three letters of recommendation (scholarship ability, personal, work-related). The NGC application and documentation should also be submitted with the GCFM application information. NGC application and requirements can be found on the NGC website.
Attached with Application: Grade transcript, references, financial aid form (signed by financial aid officer)

Applicants will be judged on the following:
- Aptitude in the field of horticulture
- Academic record
- Avocational interests and vocational potential
- Character
- Financial need
NOTE: Winners of the GCFM Horticulture Scholarship are automatically forwarded for consideration for one of the 35 National Garden Club, Inc Scholarships. For that reason, all applicants for the GCFM Horticulture Scholarship are asked to fill out application forms for the NGC Scholarships.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee. Selection is based on goals, activities, financial need, academic achievement, personal commitment, and written recommendations.
