Lawrence Alan Spiegel Remembrance Scholarship – The Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine

Eligibility Requirements

The Spiegel Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded annually to the high school senior who authors the prize-winning, original essay on the prompt: “Learning about the Holocaust affected my view of the world and it is important for others to learn about it too.” Criteria: originality of voice and viewpoint, structure, command of language and mechanics.

Application Process

Applications are available on or after January 1 of the award year and are due on May 1st.

Applications are available from The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine, Michael Klahr Center, University of Maine at Augusta, 46 University Drive, Augusta, ME 04330. If requesting by mail, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed, #10 envelope. The application will also be available online once the application period opens on January 1.

Students must write an essay, which is read by a panel of judges. The scholarship is not renewable.
