PAINTINGS OF THREE MAINE ARTISTS ON DISPLAY AT FAME

The Finance Authority of Maine is displaying the works of three Maine artists, CORRINE BONGIOVANNI, MARCIA BAKER and JOY BARNES.  These three artists specialize in oils, watercolors and pastels and hail from Auburn, Rangeley and Windham (respectively).  In support of this exhibition, FAME CEO John Witherspoon said, “We are proud to support and recognize Maine artists and to bring public attention to the arts and artists who enrich our society and strengthen our communities.”

CORRINE BONGIOVANNI, an award-winning artist, has been creating designs on paper since she could hold a pencil.  She has studied with several professional artists, and her work hangs in galleries and private collections in the U.S., Canada, Pakistan and Italy.  Her golf art can be seen in numerous pro shops in Maine, Canada and Grand Cayman Island, and more can be viewed at www.signaturelooks.net.  Corrine gravitates toward representational content that translates into “liveable” paintings.  Corrine, her husband and stepson will soon be moving from Auburn to Windham.

MARCIA BAKER regularly receives awards, including first place for her sporting paintings at the Maine State Sportsman Wildlife Show.  She creates energetic and vibrant watercolors that represent her connection with the woods and coast of Maine.  She is now expanding into oils and pastels and paints reflections of her experiences on the Amazon River and in Alaska and Newfoundland.  Her work can be viewed on her website at www.marciabaker.com.  She lives in Rangeley with her family and has a second home on Flying Point in Freeport, Maine.

JOY BARNES holds a master’s degree in art education from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania, and in addition to watercolors, pastels and oils, she has a passion for mixed media collage and Chinese painting.  Joy has been in numerous art shows and has received awards for her paintings.  Her experiences include twenty years of teaching art in public schools, teaching private lessons, directing workshops and exhibiting.  She lives in Windham with her husband and two cats.  She has a daughter in Pennsylvania and a son in Alabama.

All three award-winning artists have shown their work in galleries across Maine, and they each do commissioned pieces.

FAME hopes to bring visibility to the achievements of all Maine artists by providing an opportunity to exhibit their artwork and to inspire passion about art in others.  The public may view the exhibition Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The FAME building is located at 5 Community Drive, Augusta, Exit 112 off 95.
