Alfond will invest $500 in your baby’s

future education . . .

The Harold Alfond Foundation will invest $500 in a NextGen College Investing Plan® account for each Maine resident newborn. The Harold Alfond College Challenge grant is available for all babies born at MaineGeneral Medical Center on or after January 1, 2008.  By January of 2009 the program will expand statewide.

   .  .  .  and your newborn is also eligible for a $50 First Step Grant.

 

A $500 Harold Alfond College Challenge grant and $50 NextGen First Step Grant will be deposited into a NextGen account if the following eligibility requirements are met:

1.    The baby was born at MaineGeneral’s Waterville or Augusta Hospitals on or after January 1, 2008.

x

2.    A NextGen account was opened naming the baby as a beneficiary within twelve months of the child’s birth.

x

3.    The baby was a Maine resident at the time the NextGen account was opened.

x

4.    Only one Alfond Grant and one First Step Grant per beneficiary will be awarded.

 

Beginning January 1, 2009 the NextGen First Step Grant Program will terminate. Any Maine resident baby born in 2008, who is named as the beneficiary on a NextGen account before the baby’s first birthday, is eligible to receive a $50 First Step Grant to open a NextGen account, regardless of family income.
