FAME is committed to providing comprehensive college access and financial education services to students and schools throughout the state of Maine.  We educate students, families, counselors and advisors on how to pay for postsecondary education.  Through our workshops, materials, trainings and web resources, we hope to assist Maine students and families achieve their educational GOAL$

Financial Aid:  What is it and how to apply

These workshops are designed to prepare high school students and their families for the college financial aid process.  Generally offered during the late fall, the workshop tends to be 60 to 90 minutes in length.  You can also view our presentation in PDF format.

Financial Aid for the Adult Student

Adult nontraditional students must balance work, family, financial, and other commitments while pursuing their education.  This workshop includes financial aid basics yet weaves in tips designed to help adult students make a plan to succeed!

Get a Life Game

This interactive financial literacy game has two versions:  one for middle school students and one for high school students.  Students learn about potential career options, college aspirations and financial education.  Students can also play the game online

College Goal Maine FAFSA Labs

Every year, students and families receive personal assistance to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Multiple FAFSA labs are offered throughout the state during January and February and all locations are available on the College Goal Maine web site.  

Training Opportunities

FAME offers several training options, including in-person events and monthly webinars. These workshops are created specifically for counselors and advisors working with students and their families. 

Financial Literacy Resources

Financial literacy plays a key role in a student's success - Studies show that students who understand money management concepts are more likely to enroll in and graduate from college.  FAME has many tools, calculators and resources that you and your students can use.  

FAME Tool$

These one-page fact sheets provide useful tips and information related to financial aid and money management.  Each fact sheet is created as a PDF for easy printing and distribution.  

Translated Documents

The FAME Tool$ fact sheets are being translated into some of the most commonly spoken languages in Maine.  Documents are added to the site as they are translated.  Check back often for updated information. 

Publications

FAME has created many publications, brochures and flyers to help families understand the financial aid process.  You may view, print or order materials on our publication order page.
