FAME Federal Student Loans 2009-2010

Effective March 31, 2010 FAME will be suspending its lending participation in Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).  FAME will continue in its role as the designated federal student loan guarantor for Maine and will be providing the federal loan guarantee for FFELP lenders making loans to Maine students and all services associated with the guarantee.

FAME is pleased to have been able to serve Maine citizens as a lender for 2009-2010 and remains committed to assisting students and families as they pursue their higher education goals.  
 

FAME Federal Stafford Loan - Apply Now

• Borrower must be enrolled at least half-time.
• Lender Code: 834105
• Interest Rates:
  • Subsidized Stafford Loans for undergraduate students: fixed at 5.6%
  • Subsidized Stafford Loans for graduate students: fixed at 6.8%
  • Unsubsidized Stafford Loans: fixed at 6.8%
• 1.5% federal default/origination fee.
• Repayment begins six months after student ceases enrollment on at least a half-time basis.

FAME Federal PLUS Loan - Apply Now

• Borrower must be a credit-worthy parent of a dependent student attending school at least half-time.
• Lender Code: 834105
• Interest rate: 8.5% fixed
• 4% federal default/origination fee.
• Repayment begins within 60 days of full loan disbursement.
• Deferment is available upon request while the student and/or parent is enrolled at least half-time.  Interest does accrue during periods of deferment. 

FAME Federal Grad PLUS Loan - Apply Now

• Borrower must be a credit-worthy student enrolled at least half-time in a master's or professional degree program.
• Lender Code: 834105
• Interest rate: 8.5% fixed
• 4% federal default/origination fee.
• Repayment begins with 60 days of full loan disbursement.
• Deferment is available upon request while the student is enrolled at least half-time.  Interest does accrue during periods of deferment.
