Saving for College is not just for Newborns!

 

Anyone can open a NextGen account regardless of residency, income or age of the beneficiary.

 

 

 

It's Easy and Convenient... 

 

  • Visit a Maine bank or financial advisor near you for NextGen enrollment materials; or


  • Download NextGen enrollment materials from this site; or


  • Request that NextGen enrollment materials be mailed directly to you.



Everything you need to open your college savings account is available here:

 

  • NextGen Client Direct Series Enrollment Kit - Contains the Program Description, Account Application, and other information about what it means to be a NextGen account owner. Note: You will need the social security number and date of birth for yourself and your spouse (if any), the beneficiary and successor owner (if named).


  • Addendum to Account Application - To self-certify eligibility and receive a $200 NextGen Initial Matching Grant or $500 Harold Alfond College Challenge Grant.


  • Terms and Conditions - Contains important information about the Harold Alfond College Challenge Grant and the NextGen Initial Matching Grant.

  



Contribution Options

 

  • If the beneficiary is eligible for the $500 Harold Alfond College Challenge: An initial contribution is not required to open the NextGen account. Sign the Addendum to the Account Application.


  • If the account is being funded through automatic contributions from a bank account: An initial contribution is not required to opend the NextGen account. Complete Section 10 of the Account Application.


  • If the account is being funded through automatic contributions from payroll direct deposit: An initial contribution is not required to open the NextGen account. Complete Section 11 of the Account Application.


  • If the benficiary is eligible for a $200 Initial Matching Grant: An initial contribution of at least $50 is required to open the NextGen account. Sign the Application Adendum.


  • If none of the above: An initial contribution of $250 is required to open the NextGen account.



Note: You may elect an automated contribution method now, but automated contributions can only begin after the account is opened and an account number is assigned.
