Matching Grant Certification of Withdrawal Form Available

NextGen account owners making a full or partial withdrawal of matching grant funds must submit a Withdrawal Request Form and a Matching Grant Withdrawal and Certification Form to FAME for processing.

Please note the following:

  • Matching grant funds may only be used for withdrawals for qualified higher education expenses as defined in Section 472 of the Higher Education Act. 

  • Matching grant funds, including earnings on matching funds will be fully used before other assets in the NextGen account are used for qualified higher education expenses.

  • A NextGen account owner may not request a withdrawal of the NextGen Initial Matching Grant amounts allocated to a NextGen account for twelve (12) months after the account to which the initial matching grant is allocated is opened.

Qualified education expenses.  Qualified expenses include the tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for enrollment or attendance at an eligible educational institution.  Also included as a qualified education expense is the reasonable cost of room and board of a beneficiary who is at least a half-time student. 

Eligible educational institution.  Any college, university, vocational school or other postsecondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program administered by the Department of Education.  It includes virtually all accredited public, nonprofit, and proprietary postsecondary institutions.  The educational institution should be able to tell you if it is an eligible educational institution.
